What is ACE?

The Austin Clean Energy Initiative (or ACE Initiative) is a working group of successful entrepreneurs, business people, leading researchers, and others who believe Austin can be a worldwide center of excellence for the emergence of clean energy technologies, products, and services.

For Austin to become a world center of excellence and commercial innovation for clean energy, there must be a nexus of activity. The ACE Initiative is a catalyst for this activity, including:

• Educating and organizing the community to make a public declaration of support for clean energy research, development and commercialization;
• Promoting an economic development initiative to recruit companies which form the nucleus of a critical mass of clean energy commercial activity;
• Assembling a network of resources supporting the formation, growth and success of entrepreneurial ventures;
• Encouraging a fertile, vibrant, robust intellectual environment in which innovative entrepreneurs can spark each other to greater and more effective solutions;
• Connecting the many regional resources for renewable energy that exist so that opportunities for greater diversity in employment type and skill level can be identified;
• Advocating to and supporting courageous makers of public policy, willing to acknowledge and support the needs of clean energy

Sometime, somewhere, some community will stand forward and declare "the clean energy initiative starts here." That time is now. That place is Austin.
