Austin, TEXAS (April 23, 2002) - The Austin Clean Energy (ACE) Initiative will host its kickoff event on Tuesday, May 14, 2002 from 4:30 to 7:30 at Serrano's Symphony Square, 1111 Red River Street.
Following the recent announcement of the first two companies that earned admission to Austin's new Clean Energy Incubator (CEI), the ACE Initiative will launch its efforts to educate the public and business leaders about the economic development opportunities associated with clean energy. Doyle Brewington, founder and CTO of Power Tube, one of the two companies joining the incubator, will speak about the business potential of clean energy technologies and their product at the event.
"Clean energy will do as much for the economy of Austin and Texas as it will for the environment," said Chip Wolfe, clean energy evangelist for the ACE Initiative. "The technology infrastructure that already exists in Austin positions our city to lead the development of the next generation of energy solutions, and the ACE Initiative plans to make central Texas a hub of the clean energy industry."

Community partners for the ACE kickoff event include the Austin Idea Network, the Technical Business Network, and the Texas Solar Energy Society.
